Each card's uniqueness is rooted in the physical unclonable function — sub-micron production variance captured at write time, making duplication structurally impossible rather than merely difficult.
The onboard chip can be read by any device for verification, but writing to it requires a PIN — so a personalized card's contents can't be altered without the owner's consent.
A laser-etched visual feature set on the card face backs up the chip: if the NFC can't be read, the same phone camera used for everyday scans extracts and verifies the card from its image alone.
